Reading Report #2. Brief description of the new characters that have been incorporated to the novel:  From this point on, Mrs. Coulter plays a major role in the plot . She is described as a beautiful, well-educated, young lady, who has a daemon settled as a golden monkey. Superficially, she is charming, but deep down, she is quite manipulative and has hostile intentions. Other important characters are the Costas, a very friendly, Gyptian family that is basically made up of a mother and her two children. They take care of Lyra and reveal a big secret. Summary of the chapters I have read so far: At this moment, Lyra is desperate because Roger is still missing. Nevertheless, she temporarily forgets about that because a beautiful lady has arrived in Jordan College. This lady is called Mrs. Coulter and wants to meet the young girl. Once they have the opportunity to get to know each other, the elegant woman offers her a job as her assistant in London. Without hesitation, the brave girl a...

They had issues with the hotel because of the mice and he was asked not to let them out, yet he decided to look for an empty room where he could continue on training them. Later, he found The Ballroom, where he entered since it was empty. Sometime after, hundreds of ladies came and filled the place, all of who, surprisingly, fitted with the witch description. Title: The Golden Compass (1995). Author: Philip Pullman Genre: Fantasy Reasons for choosing this particular book: I have chosen The Golden Compass because I find it particularly interesting the concept of parallel worlds this book offers. Furthermore, I have binged half the first season of the TV series called “His Dark Materials”, which is based on the trilogy with the same name. In this way, I will learn a lot more of the story and its characters while I improve my reading skills. Place and time the story develops: The story starts developing in Jordan College, Oxford in an unspecified period of time because it is situated in a parallel world. However, there are some references that suggest that the events are happening in our present. Brief description of the main characters: The story is starred by Lyra Belacqua, a brave and wild twelve-year-old girl who tries to find her place in the world. She has a “daemon” called Pantalaimon. Reading Report 1  Title of the book: The Witches (1983) Name of the author: Roald Dahl Genre: Children's dark fantasy Reasons for choosing this particular book: I decided to read The Witches because the genre it belongs to sounds really interesting to me. Apart from that, I found myself wondering what type of story would unveil after I read the synopsis since I frankly cannot imagine what is going to happen. Also, I like the idea of it having illustrations included so much because it makes it easier for me to picture the characters and to understand other fictional elements. And finally, it is really unrelated to the story per se, but since it was extremely difficult for me to find the book online, I decided to challenge myself to find it and read it.  Setting, place and time the story develops: Part of the story was set in Norway, while the other part in the United Kingdom. As far as I could read, a time frame was never mentioned. Brief description of the main characters: ...
